Power 5

With Clemson’s performance in 2016, as well as the rest of the ACC going 7-3 in Bowl Season, the ACC claimed the top spot and an automatic bad. This is the first time the SEC wasn’t the top conference in over a decade. However, it still maintained the number 2 spot and a top automatic bid. With the Pac-12 and the B1G retaining the third and fourth spots, and the Big 12 Champ retaining the final spot.

Group of 5

With their performance in 2016, the American Athletic Conference retains the best Group of 5 grade for the second consecutive year. The AAC’s conference champion, UCF, is granted an automatic birth.
